  19. Just an aside along the "RAID" string, posted in a recent journal was an 
  20. article stating that soon to be available the newly developing standard 
  21. "SCSI-3" able to throughput up to 100MB/s.  This standard is the next 
  22. step in the SCSI evolution by ANSI.  Further, the entire standard is not 
  23. being ratified as a whole, which was the case with SCSI-2, rather the 
  24. development is being made in thirds and ratified that way.  As a result 
  25. SCSI-3 or also called ultra SCSI products are already hitting the market.
  26. Some interesting points are that thedevelopment includes the employment 
  27. of fibre channel protocols ( this is where you get 100MB/s), IEEE P1394 
  28. (of which  you may already be familiar), SPI, and SSA (serial storage arch),
  29. active termination and ultra SCSI is backward compatible with SCSI-2
